As the mission of the Prophet ﷺ in Mecca draws to a close and he takes to the road for the Hijra, we share the joy of Medina at his arrival, and the beginning of a whole new phase in the formative years of Islam.
The Medina period brings challenge and tribulation, but also triumph, and finally, sweeping success. From the highs of the Conquest of Mecca and the Farewell sermon, we plummet to the darkest days in the history of Medina.....the illness and death of the Prophet ﷺ. A low from which it seemed, to those who endured it, impossible to rise again. Yet, in the aftermath of this calamitous event, and under the capable leadership of the rightly guided Caliphs, the light and legacy of the Prophet ﷺ, shines brightly, and by that light, generations of Muslims have found their way.
We love the story, but more importantly, it is the lessons embedded in these events that allow us to walk in the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ.
